AANC GRANT GUIDELINES

1. Any AANC member organization may apply to the AANC Board for a grant. The organization must be a dues-paying member in good standing.

2. Grants can be for a variety of purposes to assist an organization in promoting amateur astronomy. Here are a few examples:
    -Telescopes for schools
    -Slides or other AV materials for presentations
    -Funds for stargazing event supplies

3. Grant proposals may be submitted to the AANC Board via any of the AANC officers or Board members for presentation at Board meeting. Submissions must be written and sent by postal or e-mail (preferably e-mail) to an AANC officer or Board member who will present it at a Board meeting for approval.

4. Proposals should include:
 { } Title
 { } Name of requesting organization
 { } Name and contact info of person preparing the proposal
 { } Date of proposal
 { } Brief description of how the grant funds would be used
 { } Explanation of how the grant benefits amateur astronomy
 { } Designation of a person who will report to the
     AANC Board on Grant spending and Grant Activities:
    -when the grant funds are spent,
    -how they have used,
    -what benefit the grant has been,
    -any obstacles overcome or lessons learned.
 { } Date by which the recipient organization expects to
    report to the AANC Board on Grant spending and
    Grant activities.

4. Basic grants in amounts up to $300 may be approved by the AANC Board with simple presentation by a Board member and vote of the board.

5. Grants for amounts greater than $300 require
- proposal presentation at a Board meeting,
- verification of AANC treasury status,
- independent verification of proposal elements with the requesting organization by a Board member other than the organization's Board Representative or Board member representing the proposal,
- vote of the Board at subsequent AANC Board meeting.

6. Total grants in any given year must not exceed $800.
